  • Eligibility and requirements

    Who is eligible?

    If you are over 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license and are a US or Canadian citizen traveling to France, you can start enjoying the benefits of Eurocar 3-24 today!

    Who can drive the car?

    Eurocar 3-24 allows for multiple drivers, minimum age 21 and a valid driver's license is required. All Eurocar 3-24 vehicles and their drivers and passengers are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy which covers third party liability, legal protection, collision, fire and theft. A deductible which may vary from one car category to the other, applies to the collision, fire and theft coverage. The amount of the applicable deductible is indicated in the final reservation confirmation document.

    Do I need an international driver's license?

    Many countries require no license apart from your domestic driver's one. However, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, and Spain do, by law at least, require non-Europeans to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic license. It is the responsibility of the driver, based on his/her planned itinerary, to check with the proper authorities (Tourist Office, Consulate, Embassy etc….) what the local requirements are and to ensure his/her full compliance with such.

    Pickup-up & Return Locations

    Eurocar 3-24 is currently available for deliveries in France only. The program will expand quickly to cover more markets in the following months.The vehicle is delivered with a full tank of gas directly to your address as well as airports and train stations in France.

    When should I make my reservation?

    We recommend placing your order as early as possible and at least thirty days before the planned pick-up date.

    Changes and Cancellations

    As a medium to long-term car rental option, Eurocar 3-24 understands that a renter's plans may change over time and therefore offers several possibilities of adjustment before or during the life of the contract. Those adjustments cover the cancellation of a reservation before or after the delivery date, changes in the delivery and/or return dates and locations, changes in the mileage allowance and changes in the equipment of the car.

    Contract modifications are authorized free of charge and up to 21 days before the delivery of the car: change of delivery location, change of mileage allowance and change of car equipment options (winter tires). After the delivery of the vehicle, any change will require a covenant to the original contract and be subject to a 50 Euros change fee.

    Eurocar 3-24 reservations can be cancelled at anytime. Cancellation requests received up to 40 days prior to the car delivery date will be subject to a 100 Euros cancellation fee. Cancellation requests received 40 days or less prior to the delivery date will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to one full month of rental. Automatic cancellations resulting from the decision of the renter to not take delivery of his / her vehicle within a maximum of 15 days from the contracted date will be subject to a 2 months of rental cancellation fee.

    Does my car come with a GPS and other equipment?

    All cars in the program come with a "business package" that includes GPS, Bluetooth, A/C along with all the standard safety features.

    Can I add winter tires?

    Yes, we provide an optional winter tire package upon request when you place your car rental reservation.

    What vehicle brands do you offer?

    Featured brands include all the main French manufacturers (Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, DS) and well-known luxury brands such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz as well as the more familiar car makes: Volvo, Mini, and Nissan are also available.

    Do I get to choose my car?

    Absolutely, this is the only rental program that allows you to actually pick the vehicle among a large selection of brands and models within your car category, 2 weeks before your planned pickup date. No surprises when you arrive!

  • Pricing and insurance

    Payment procedure

    A $500 deposit is required in order to place your reservation. The remaining balance is due 40 days prior to the vehicle delivery date. If your pickup date is in less than 40 days from your order date, payment of the full amount of your lease is required when you order.

    Which countries are covered by the Insurance Policy and the Road Assistance program?

    While the primary location of usage of the vehicle is intended to be France, the renter is also allowed to occasionally use the vehicle in the following countries: Germany, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain (excluding Ceuta and Melilla territories), Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Monaco, Norway, Holland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland.

    All Eurocar 3-24vehicles and their drivers and passengers are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy which covers third party liability, legal protection, collision, fire and theft. A deductible which may vary from one car category to the other, applies to the collision, fire and theft coverage. The amount of the applicable deductible is indicated in the final reservation confirmation document.

    Eurocar 3-24 vehicles are also covered by a Road Assistance Service which is available 24/7 in France as well as in theabove-mentioned countries.

  • Eligibility and requirements

    Who is eligible?

    Are eligible to benefit from the Renault Eurodrive tax-free short-term auto lease, persons who can claim residence outside the European Union, who are 18 years of age or older, and have had a valid driver’s license for at least one year. No maximum age limit applies. Tourists qualify for leases of up to 170 days. However leases are limited to 165 days for vehicles delivered in Milan, Brest, Amsterdam, Madrid, Santiago, Vigo, Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto, Rome, and Zurich and to 155 days for deliveries in Munich and London. Following the same delivery restrictions, Students and educators typically qualify for leases of up to 340 to 355 days, as do certain employees undertaking a limited engagement in Europe.     Do I need an international driver's license?

    Many countries require no license apart from your domestic driver’s one. The IDP can be easily obtained at your nearest AAA branch office; the cost is $15 and requires two of your recent passport type photos.

    Who can drive the car?

    The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a current driver's license valid for all the countries in which he/she intends to drive. All authorized drivers are fully covered by the Insurance. Apart from the holder of the vehicle registration document [i.e. the person whose name is on the vehicle’s registration], other authorized drivers, as per the Program Rules, are the spouse, the domestic partner (with documentary proof of living together, or an affidavit) and direct ascendants and descendants provided they themselves satisfy the Program key requirements . In case of necessity you may authorize another person who satisfy those conditions as well but is not directly related to you, provided you are traveling in the car with this person.

  • Locations, one-way bookings, reservations, and changes

    Where can I pick up and return the car?

    Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bordeaux, Brest, Brussels, Calais, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Lyon, Madrid, Marseille, Milan, Montpellier, Munich, Nantes, Nice, Paris city, Paris CDG Airport, Paris Orly Airport, Porto, Rome, Santiago de Compostella, St. Louis / Mulhouse, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Vigo. The Eurodrive program authorizes any combination of pick up and drop off locations.

    When should I make my reservation?

    As the number of cars offered in this Program is limited to a few thousands per year, we suggest you place your order as early as possible and at least thirty days before the planned pick-up date.

    I need a car right away. Can you help?

    Eurodrive reservations must be made at least three weeks before the planned vehicle delivery date. If you need a shorter turnaround time, call one of our travel consultants at (888) 532-1221 between 9:00AM and 5:30PM Eastern Time. We will always try to accommodate your needs. If we can't arrange for a delivery on your exact date, we may be able to assist you with a regular car rental for a few days before you can take possession of your Renault or offer you another long term rental option for your trip.

    Changes and Cancellations

    Changes requested more than 40 days prior to the delivery date of the vehicle:You can make up to 2 changes without any charges. Thereafter, there is a fee of $50 per change.

    Changes requested 40 days or less prior to the scheduled or desired delivery date of the vehicle: any change requested during this period will be subject to a $750.00 fee. All changes must be requested in writing by mail, email or fax.

    Changes after delivery of the vehicle: You can make changes regarding your drop off location or the length of your lease (additional day charge will be calculated on the basis of Renault Paris general contract extension price list) while abroad by contacting Renault headquarters in Paris DIRECTLY.

    Cancellations:Deposit based reservations cancelled more than 40 days before the delivery date of the vehicle will be subject to a cancellation fee of $50.00 (a $450.00 credit on the initial paid deposit of $500.00 will be posted on the credit card used at time of booking). Paid in full reservations cancelled more than 40 days before the vehicle delivery date will be subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee (a credit of the full amount paid for the contract minus $100.00 will be posted on the credit card used at time of booking). All cancellations requests received 40 days or less prior to the delivery date of the vehicle will be subject to a $750.00 cancellation fee.

    Can I buy the vehicle I am leasing?

    You may purchase your vehicle at the end of your lease. All you have to do is contact Renault in Paris at the relevant phone number listed in the Travel booklet which is made available to you before your departure, at least 7 days prior to the termination of your lease. Renault will arrange for 2 weeks worth of temporary registration and insurance (appending to the end of your lease duration) while further assisting you with respect to all the administrative and / or financial elements required for the transaction. We recommend however that, if you are planning such a purchase, you check with us the option of buying the vehicle outright. We will be more than happy to help you with this process which offers more flexibility than the leasing option in term of customization of the car. We will also be able to offer you a significant discount on the list price on that vehicle.

    Can I extend my lease while already in Europe?

    You may extend the length of your contract following the delivery of your vehicle, within the limits of the expiration date of the vehicle's registration certificate. As stated in the Eurodrive General Terms and Conditions, all that is needed is to contact the Renault Eurodrive office at +33 (0) 1 76 84 99 00 at least 7 days prior to the initially scheduled return date. The cost of the additional days you need will be billed to you in Euros directly by Renault so you will be asked to provide a valid credit card number to complete the extension. Be advised that the cost of those additional days (34 Euros per day for all Renault models and 24 Euros per day for all Dacia models) is significantly higher than what you pay at the time of your initial reservation. As a result, In some cases, it may be more advantageous to reserve your car from the get go for the maximum number of days you think you might need and then, should you end up not needing some of those days, return the car early and ask for a refund of those unused days, rather than reserve only the minimum number of days you may need and then pay the local Euro rates for the extra days.
    IMPORTANT: The insurance coverage stops on the contractual end date of the lease, therefore it is mandatory to extend the contract if you plan to return the vehicle after the contractual end date.

  • Options & Packages

    Does my car come with a GPS and what countries are covered?

    For your convenience, all of our cars come with a factory installed GPS. In most cases, the built-in GPS system provides a full European coverage, however, some restrictions may apply to some of the systems.

    Can I add accessories such as child seats or a roof rack?

    You can choose to purchase child seat(s) from us, at the time of your reservation. Such seats are required by law for children less than 10 years of age. You may also elect to buy such seats locally and install them in your car yourself. We do not sell roof racks or ski racks. Some of our cars will come from the factory with roof bars, requiring only the addition of an appropriate set of crossbars. For other models, you will need to buy both the cross bars and the proper roof fitting parts. Racks of various usages are easy to find at many local car dealerships, car parts stores and major sport equipment stores. Please note that Renault will not buy back this type of equipment from you when you return the car.

    Gasoline or Diesel?

    In most European countries the price of diesel fuel can be as much as 10 to 15 percent less than that of gasoline. Diesel engines are also about 10 percent more fuel efficient than gasoline engines. Therefore, in most countries, you could theoretically end up saving on your fuel cost if you drive a diesel rather than a gasoline-powered vehicle. However, fuel prices (gasoline and diesel alike) vary from country to country and may also be affected by local distribution networks. In addition, your own driving style, the mix of usage you will make of the car (city, road and highway) and the load of the car will significantly affect your fuel consumption and therefore the actual savings you may expect by choosing diesel over Gasoline. Finally, the lease cost of Diesel powered cars is usually higher than the one of Gasoline powered cars. This has to be taken account as well in your calculation. As a rule of thumb we estimate that unless you will be driving more than 4,000 kilometers, the gasoline option is likely to remain the most cost effective. The above information is provided only as guidance. It is the exclusive responsibility of the driver of the car to research this issue further, prior to making his/her choice of engine when available.

    Do I get a choice of color for the car?

    Although you’ll be getting your car with advertised specifications, the car color however, is chosen by the manufacturer. Eurodrive vehicles generally come in neutral colors.

  • Pricing, discounts, and insurance

    Wheels in Europe Customer Loyalty Program

    As a valued customer, each one of your leases credits your client account with points which eventually translate into a discount on your next leases. When a promotional discount and a Loyalty Program discount cannot be combined, the largest applicable discount is always applied. In cases when Limited Time Offer (LTO) is combinable with another discount (loyalty and/or special interest discounts), then this discount is capped at 8%.

    Benefits: Starting with your 5th executed contract you are entitled to a 5% discount on all your future leases. Once you have reached 10 leases, this loyalty discount becomes 10%. This discount applies to the car portion of your lease only (pick up and drop off fees as well as accessories or additional services such as hotel or home delivery are not included) and is reflected in your final contract. There is no specific redemption process to follow, as our system tracks your activity and allows us to properly reflect your discount upon confirmation of your reservation.

    What does fully comprehensive insurance mean?

    The insurance, new car warranty and road assistance service are all included in the price of the lease. The insurance covers civil liability, collision with zero-deductible, theft, vandalism, fire and act-of-God. It is effective no matter who is driving, provided the vehicle is being driven within the geographic domain of the insurance. Likewise the included 24/7 multi-lingual roadside assistance is limited to this same geographical domain.

    Which countries are covered by the Insurance Policy and the Road Assistance program?

    Although the car may be driven in other countries at the drivers own risk, the countries in which the included insurance and Road Assistance programs are effective consist of the following:
    Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein , Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Norway, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, San Marino, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican City.

    Are my personal belongings insured?

    Yes, your personal belongings, including laptop computers, cameras and portable GPS systems are insured up to a maximum of 500 to 1,500 Euros (depending on the item) in case of accident, burglary or fire with presentation of the receipts. Fur, jewelry and monetary goods are excluded. A summary of the Insurance coverage and limits is available as part of our General Terms & Conditions document.

  • Rental Facts

    May I make changes to my rental while traveling?

    If you need to make any changes to your reservation while traveling, including rental duration, locations or vehicle type, please call our toll-free number provided on your Auto Europe voucher before the expiration of the rental period. We are open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to assist you in making any changes.

    What should I do with paperwork pertaining to my rental?

    We advise you to retain any paperwork you receive, including the rental agreement, final invoice, and fuel receipts - this will enable us to assist you in answering any questions you may have.

    Should I read my rental voucher?

    Please read your Auto Europe voucher and it's "Terms & Conditions" and contact us if you have any questions.

    What will happen when I arrive to pick up my rental?

    Upon arrival at your destination, you will be asked to sign a rental agreement outlining the inclusions and exclusions. Please be sure to accept what you need and decline any items that you don't need or want. Auto Europe cannot refund any charges that are accepted at the time of check out.

    Can I use my airline miles towards my car rental?

    Auto Europe does not accept airline miles or credit card points, however you can enquire about this with the local rental company upon checking out your vehicle.

    Can you guarantee that the car on the voucher is the car I am going to receive?

    Auto Europe, like all car rental companies, can not guarantee a specific make or model. We do guarantee the car category. A specific model may be requested, but it can not be guaranteed.

    Do you have toll-free phone service from overseas?

    Instructions will be provided with your confirmation voucher, so you may contact us toll-free should you require assistance after departure. (Emergency road service is provided locally with every rental.)

    How can I pay for my rental?

    Auto Europe accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Discover Card as well as personal checks. Keep in mind, Discover Card and personal checks are NOT accepted locally.

    How is my rate guaranteed?

    We guarantee our rates in U.S. dollars. Most reservations require only a partial pre-payment to confirm which is fully refundable at any time.

    How quickly can I confirm my reservation?

    We're able to confirm most reservations with as little as 20 minutes advance notice. For last minute reservations, please call us at 1 888 223 5555.

    I did not receive my voucher, how can I obtain the voucher?

    An Auto Europe voucher can be sent to you via email in PDF or HTML format. The voucher can also be sent to you by fax. Or you can visit our Reservation Look Up Form and view a printable copy of the voucher.

    I do not have a credit card, can I still rent a car?

    If we have a contract with a supplier that allows a cash rental, then it is possible. Payment would still have to be made to Auto Europe and you would have to take an inclusive rate. A cash deposit would be required at time of pick up.

    I have a debit card, can I use this to pick up my vehicle?

    Not all suppliers will accept debit cards at pick up. If the supplier does accept the debit card, the rental would have to be treated as a cash rental.

    I want to confirm my car rental with payment, but do not feel safe sending my credit card information to you by email. How can I confirm my car rental with payment?

    Auto Europe does have a secured server for credit card payment or you can call toll free at 1-888-223-5555 and speak with an agent to confirm you reservation.

    Is an International Drivers License mandatory in Europe?

    It is mandatory in several countries and is highly recommended when renting in a country where English is not the primary language.

    Is there a fee for canceling or changing a reservation?

    There is no fee to change a car rental booking provided that you contact Auto Europe before the end of the rental period. All changes must be processed by Auto Europe and not through our overseas affiliates.
    There is no fee to cancel a car rental booking provided that you contact Auto Europe three days prior to your date of pick up. A fee of $75 USD will occur with any cancellations within three days. If you fail to notify Auto Europe of your cancellation and are considered a "no show", the cancellation fee is 100% of the rental.

    What do I need to pick-up my car?

    An Auto Europe voucher is required. Our vouchers show confirmation of your reservation and contain specific information about your rental car, rental rate and other important details needed by our overseas affiliates. When you reserve by phone, vouchers are faxed to you immediately upon receipt of payment. A copy of your rental voucher is then mailed the following business day. If you reserve online, vouchers are emailed immediately upon receipt of payment. Sample Voucher for more information.

    What if I find a better rate for a rental car?

    Auto Europe guarantees the best rates and service available. If you should find a lower rate with comparable service, terms, locations, surcharges etc. we'll beat it! To submit the lower rate to us, please complete our Guaranteed Best Rate form.

    What is the difference between basic and inclusive rates?

    The basic rate includes public liability insurance, fire insurance, value added tax and unlimited kilometers. The inclusive rate also includes CDW and theft protection for the rental vehicle.

    What kind of insurance can I get for my rental car?

    “Renting a car is not a process limited to the selection of a car category. One of the most important choices you have to make before booking your car is in fact to decide what level of insurance protection you think you need.

    1. Basic: All our cars come with a basic coverage which includes a no deductible Fire insurance and an Unlimited Liability insurance which covers any damage you may cause to a third party or to property “outside the rental vehicle”.

      This basic coverage does not include what is often referred to as PAI, which is a special insurance option that covers you and your passenger’s medical expenses, invalidity compensation or death benefits (up to a certain amount) regardless of who is at fault (you or a third party). Such extra coverage is generally available at the car rental counter at your pick up location. PAI where available, may cover personal objects in case of theft.
    2. “With Insurances” or “Inclusive”: The next level of coverage that may be available for the car you have selected is “With Insurances”. This option adds to the basic coverage level defined above in term of Collision and Theft. This level includes however a deductible which varies with the value of the car you are renting. The amount of this deductible will be indicated to you when you check the terms and conditions applicable to your rental which you must read before finalizing your reservation. Such a level of coverage is in fact mandatory for rentals made in certain countries (e.g. Italy) so you may not see the “Basic” option in some cases as it is in fact not an available option.
    3. “No Excess”: The third level of coverage we offer and which may be available for your car depending on the car rental provider is called “No Excess”. This level provides the same coverage as the “With Insurances” one but eliminates the deductible, giving you more peace of mind.
    4. Credit Card Coverage

      Some credit cards only offer coverage for certain car types. Exempted with most cards:
      • Vehicles valued at over $50,000 (Mercedes-Benz 320, BMW 730, etc.)
      • Exotic cars or antique cars (over 20 years old or have not been manufactured in 10 years).
      • Off road or 4x4 vehicles, motorcycles, trucks, cargo vans, full sized vans and camper vans

      Other credit card coverage concerns:
      • Coverage is limited to rentals under 30 days.
      • Some credit cards do not offer coverage for car rentals in Ireland, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Australia and travel into Eastern Europe.
      • To extend coverage, additional drivers must be listed on the European rental agreement.
      • Most credit cards will file a claim with the client's personal insurance company before they reimburse the deductible. This could affect your client's personal driving record and premium.
      • Most credit card companies require the repair bill paid directly by the client and have a specific time period for the client to submit documentation.
      • Most credit cards will not cover rentals if the card was issued outside the United States.
    WARNING: Car rental insurance coverage might be available to you through your own car insurance carrier or through a third party such as a Credit Card provider. All those insurance options come with various limitations based either on the country of the rental, the length of the rental contract, the car category or other criteria. Please do check all details and fine prints attached to those external options before making a decision on the coverage level you want to include in your reservation. At Wheels in Europe, It is our goal to make your trip as worry free as possible. Our short term leasing options offer a more comprehensive coverage than usually available for traditional car rentals.     Instructions will be provided with your confirmation voucher, so you may contact us toll-free should you require assistance after departure.

    How can I pay for transfer services?

    Auto Europe accepts American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Discover.

    How is my reservation confirmed?

    A detailed confirmation voucher will be sent to you. If you reserve by phone, vouchers are faxed to you immediately upon receipt of payment. If you reserve online, vouchers are emailed to you immediately upon receipt of payment. In either case, a copy is mailed the next business day.

    How quickly can I arrange for transfer services?

    Auto Europe guarantees confirmation with a minimum of 24 hours advance notice, however we are able to accommodate most transfer reservation requests with as little as 3 hours advance notice. Services must be fully pre-paid, and credit card information will be kept on file for any extra charges (such as cellular phone services, etc.)

    How will I find my transfer driver?

    Arrivals in airports and other transportation hubs will be greeted with a hand-held sign.

    Is there a fee for canceling my reservation?

    Reservations are fully refundable up until the time the driver and vehicle depart the garage. 'No-show' bookings will be charged the full cost of the transfer.

    Is there a fee for changing my reservation?

    There is no fee to change reservations for transfer services.
